The Assistant Women's Basketball Coach provides assistance with coaching of the Women’s Basketball team and all facets of the program, particularly in the areas of monitoring academic progress, individual workouts, scouting, practice planning and travel planning. The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach reports to the Director of Athletics and Recreation, supervised by the Head Women’s Basketball Coach
E S S E N T I A L F U N C T I O N S
Assists the Head Coach with the organization, administration and implementation of the Women’s Basketball program.
Works with the Head Coach in recruiting student athletes for the basketball team.
Participates in organizing and supervising, practices and games.
Directs pre-season conditioning program for student athletes.
Establishes daily practice routines to include condition, running and scrimmages.
Over 25 percent travel required travel with the team to ensure the players are prepared for the game and to support team competitions and recruiting. Works with Head Coach to coordinate the travel plans for the team.
Scouts upcoming opponents at the discretion of the Head Coach and within the College, NCAA and the Conference (if applicable) guidelines.
Works with Head Coach to develop a game plan for upcoming opponents.
Assists the Head Coach with directing and coordinating activities, ensuring compliance with the NCAA and Centenary College guidelines.
Collaborates in the organizing, promoting and conducting summer camp activities and various other camps and clinics throughout the year.
Monitors student athletes’ academic progress.
Monitoring of Athletic facilities as assigned by Athletic Director
Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

As an institutional staff member actively involved with NCAA Division III prospects, student-athletes, and athletic department personnel, you are responsible to uphold all conference and NCAA rules and regulations. In accordance with NCAA bylaw 11.1, you are responsible to report any known violations and will be held accountable for any violations committed within your department.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
M I N I M U M
Bachelor’s degree.
3 or more years as a competitive player or experience in basketball coaching.
Must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Must be people-oriented individual, have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
Well organized and self-motivated.
Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.
Must be able to obtain First Aid/ CPR/ AED certification.
Must be able to obtain college driving clearance.
Must be able to operate a computer.
P R E F E R R E D
Master’s Degree
5 or more years as a competitive player or experience in basketball coaching.
Specific experience with campus admission/recruiting office, NCAA compliance, event management, outdoor field management, or coaching in another sport.
Experience in a NCAA Division III program.
Experience with a selective, residential, Liberal Arts college.
Experience in Strength & Conditioning programs for women’s basketball athletes.
Experience with individual & small group basketball skill development.
Experience with video editing software and video equipment.
