SUMMARY

The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for planning and directing the recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of student athletes, along with fiscal program management, for the Harris-Stowe State University women’s Basketball Program. This position reports to the Director of Head women’s basketball coach This is a professional head coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of the NAIA, the America Midwest Conference and Harris-Stowe State University. Employees in this job class may be subject to the terms and conditions of an employment contract which is typically subject to review and renewal on an annual basis.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the overall planning and execution of the intercollegiate women’s basketball program.
  • Monitor academic progress and status of team members
  • Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student-athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program.
  • Plan coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NAIA and America Midwest Conference regulations.
  • Coach team members individually and in groups, and demonstrate game techniques. 
  • Develop and implement game strategy and position assignments.
  • Promote the athletic program and specific sport through community events, public speaking, fundraising, and marketing.
  • Assist with athletic department fundraising initiatives, booster club, and special events
  • Attends monthly staff meetings
  • Models and teaches NAIA Live 5; integrity, respect, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship
  • Performs others duties as assigned by Head Women’s Basketball Coach.
