Position Purpose:
Assists in the organization, development, and leadership of a highly competitive Division I Women’s Ice Hockey program in support of the mission and core values of Union College.
Union College, a highly selective liberal arts institution located in Schenectady, New York is accepting applications for an Assistant Women’s Ice Hockey Coach. Union College is an NCAA multi-classified institution that sponsors 26 intercollegiate sports. Ice Hockey competes in Division I ECAC Hockey, and 24 sports compete in the Division III Liberty League.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Administration: Manages video preparation, filming, editing and uploading for games and practices. Coordinates all team meals. Assists Administrative Assistant with all office tasks. Partners with College Relations to build relationships and connection efforts with alumni. Assists in organizing team community service plan.
Recruiting: Assists in recruiting of prospective student-athletes, including management of recruiting data and information via ARMS software.
Social Media Management: Creates content for social media. Manages women’s hockey social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and/or a combination of relevant education, coaching training, certifications, and/or work experience.
Advanced knowledge of tools to review game footage such as XOS (for pre and post-game scouting) and Microsoft Office required. Prior experience using ARMS, preferred.
Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Able to proactively identify and pursue relevant learning and professional development opportunities and apply new knowledge, insights, and skills to enhance results.
Ability to lift moderately heavy items (up to 30 lbs.), and stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time.
The ability to foster and enhance a thriving, diverse, inclusive, and culturally vibrant community, while promoting a sense of belonging among students, faculty and staff colleagues, and alumni.
Compensation:
The expected rate for this position is $20.40 per hour. Compensation includes an hourly rate plus college housing and a meal plan. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
