POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach is responsible for supporting all aspects of building a competitive NCAA Division III women’s soccer program that advances the mission of intercollegiate athletics and the University. The assistant coach assists the head coach in student recruitment and retention; coaches student athletes and fosters their skill development; assists in coaching plans and implementation at practices and competitions; provides for students’ safety, health and wellbeing; complies with NCAA, UMAC and university policies; provides sound fiscal management; assists in equipment oversight, scheduling, travel planning, and summer camps; assists in off-season programs and athlete development; and assists in program communication and fundraising efforts with the Head Coach. The assistant coach will work with the head women’s soccer coach to build a shared vision, work collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, build and retain a diverse and talented team, foster good sportsmanship and a climate of respect, and provide an environment that supports students in achieving their athletic, academic and life goals.

Qualifications

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• A Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated effectiveness playing and/or coaching soccer is required. 
• A Master’s degree, college coaching experience and/or participation at the collegiate level are preferred. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent organization, oral and written communication skills.
• An appreciation for the philosophy of the NCAA Division III.
• Strong program management skills, the ability to recruit and retain qualified and talented student athletes.
• Demonstrated commitment to students’ athletic and academic success.
• The demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and retain a diverse, inclusive, successful team with sensitivity to individuals of all cultural backgrounds.
• The capacity to be a visible and engaging leader. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate an appreciation for the mission and value of a public liberal arts college, be self-directed and motivated, work with integrity, and bring skills and abilities needed to advance Cougar women’s soccer, the athletic program, and the University.

Pay and Benefits

 

Pay Range: $31,010 - $32,500; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75% Appointment

Position Type:  Faculty and P&A Staff
