Job Description

The Department of Athletics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is seeking applicants to fill the position of Assistant Women’s Swimming Coach. This nationally ranked NCAA Division II team competes in the Pacific College Swim Coaches Conference. The Alaska Nanook athletic program is a multi divisional member of the NCAA, with 10 teams competing at the Division I and Division II levels.

The Assistant Swimming Coach’s duties include but not limited to: assistance in coaching, academic administration, recruiting, travel, running home meets and all necessary administrative work as assigned by Head Coach. The Assistant Swimming Coach is responsible for conducting all of their duties and activities with integrity and within NCAA, Pacific College Swim and Dive Conference, The University of Alaska Fairbanks and Athletic Department rules and regulations. The Alaska Nanooks athletic program is a multidivisional member of the NCAA, with 10 teams competing at the Division I and Division II levels, including men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country running, men’s and women’s Nordic skiing, coed rifle, women’s volleyball, women’s swimming, and men’s ice hockey.

Excellent candidates will be adept at critical thinking and possess an open mind for problem solving with a positive attitude and enthusiastic effort. Ideal candidates will leverage their communication skills to best benefit the UAF Swim Team program through proactive interaction with team coaching and supporting staff, student-athletes, department administrators and other UAF supporting staff. The assistant coach will demonstrate effective organizational skills for planning, recording and utilizing team metrics and stats. Strong candidates will share a vision for the ample opportunities with professional growth, access to advanced resources, and a passionate community that values collaboration and integrity. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Maintain valid annual certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguard or Lifeguard Instructor.
Valid Driver’s License.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt (24 pay-period/11 month) staff position complete with both a competitive salary andfull employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on theUA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
