Summary:
The Assistant Volleyball Coach at The College of Wooster, under the direction of the Head Coach, manages all aspects of the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Program. Responsibilities include recruiting high-caliber student-athletes, providing on-court training, preparing scouting reports, collaborating with staff, engaging in community outreach, managing social media, and ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations. This 10-month position with benefits requires morning, evening, and weekend availability.
Essential Departmental Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Coach with planning, developing, and directing all team activities important to support a competitive team in the North Coast Athletic Conference and the NCAA Division III.
In partnership with the Office of Admissions and the Head Coach, recruit academically and athletically strong applicants for the selective and competitive applicant pool at The College of Wooster.
Support the Head Coach in administrative operations including budget management, coordinating team travel, room reservations, and meals, and working with the purchasing manager to order equipment and supplies.
In partnership with the Office of Athletic Communications, create content and manage the volleyball social media account.
Stay up to date with sport and coaching best practices to provide opportunities for all involved in the program to become students of the game by sharing knowledge of the sport.
Ensure compliance with NCAA, NCAC and The College Wooster rules and policies.
All coaches may be assigned additional duties in teaching, committee and administrative work. These responsibilities are determined annually by the Head Coach, Chair of Physical Education, and Director (Associate Director) of Athletics and Physical Education.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree required.
Volleyball experience is required.
Three to five years related experience highlighting a successful record of coaching and recruiting at the intercollegiate level is preferred.
Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification is required (and can be completed after hire)
Ideal candidates will demonstrate an understanding of a small liberal arts college, the ability to mentor student athletes on and off the court, strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.

Work Environment:
The Coach is required to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Some heavy lifting / moving equipment is required.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Travel for athletic contests, recruiting, coaches meetings and convention/caucus attendance is required.
While performing the duties of this job, the Head Coach regularly travels in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, dirt, and dust.
