- Serves as director of compliance. Educates staff and student-athletes on NCAA bylaws pertinent to recruiting, eligibility, playing seasons, benefits, etc. Annually certifies compliance of each student-athlete per NCAA and USA South regulations and monitors continued compliance throughout the academic year. Manages annual institutional compliance requirements per NCAA bylaws. Serves as first-line of inquiry for staff and student-athletes.
- Oversees student-athlete affairs programming to support overall personal development. Plans, promotes, and executes non-sport programming for student-athletes, collaborating with other campus departments, utilizing conference and NCAA grant monies as available for special events. Promotes to and selects interested and qualified student-athletes and staff to attend special NCAA programs, as available. Serves as the primary coordinator of annual athletic special events. (Student Athlete Banquet, Community Service, etc.)
- Acts as a liaison and mentor for the coaching/administrative staff. Shares sport/staff oversight responsibilities with the athletic director as experience dictates; managing, supporting, and evaluating coaches/staff, monitoring budget, travel, and other needs. Specific sport/staff assigned may vary annually.
- Assists SID with oversight of athletic department events, including student-worker staff and site supervisor responsibilities/schedules.
- Manages and oversees the maintenance of all athletic facilities, including the preparation of a facility maintenance schedule and the completing of necessary repairs/improvements in a timely manner.
- Manages and oversees use of all athletic facility rentals in collaboration with the college events staff and academic stakeholders, including the scheduling and follow-up of appropriate and necessary maintenance. Schedules all athletics practices, competitions, meetings, training, events, etc., for all sports and department. Regularly assists and communicates with college events staff regarding availability of athletics facilities for other college and rental use.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and master’s degree in sports management, athletic administration, or related field required.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in college athletic administration, including staff oversight required.
- Current valid NC Driver License required. Clean driving history required.
