Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $97,000/year. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $85,400 to $156,800/year.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:

The position oversees the day-to-day operations of athletics facilities, athletics fields and grounds, building renovations, athletics event management, and related budgets as well as support of capital projects. Oversight of all Division I intercollegiate athletic events as well as external athletic related events and event management. The role requires efficient maintenance and operational plans, long range development planning, conflict resolution, safety management and close collaboration with on and off campus partners. All duties are to be performed in strict compliance with the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big West Conference, and the University.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• 1-3 years Related experience
• Demonstrated expertise in overseeing athletic events and external events, including planning, coordination, and execution.
• Proven experience in managing day-to-day operations of athletic facilities, fields, and grounds.
• Commitment to ensuring all activities and operations are performed in strict compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
• Experience overseeing Division I intercollegiate athletic events is highly desirable.
• 7-9 years Related experience preferred

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:

• 60% Event Management - • Responsible for development /implementation of a sound event management plan for all intercollegiate athletic events. • Oversight of scheduling and contracting process for all facilities and events. • Oversight of scheduling of event operations staffing. • Establish professional working relationships with a variety of on/off campus partners to support conflict resolution and ensure safety and security at all events. • Coordinate and supervise NCAA Championship events held on campus. • Supervise game management duties to ensure quality and safety at all University Athletic events. • Responsible for home contest administration in a variety of athletic competitions which includes 'Event Staff' (ushers and security), Parking, Police, CSOs. • Ensure that NCAA and Conference compliance requirements are met at all sports events. • Serve as primary event manager for selected home events. • Serve as primary contact and event manager for special events (i.e. professional or otherwise) hosted by UCSB Athletics. • Oversight of budgets related to event management. Executing plans to remain on budget • Ensure adherence to proper protocols and communication with with game officials.
• 35% Facility Management - • Develop long range plans for facility maintenance and renovation. • Oversight of facility maintenance planning and day to day operations at athletic related venues including the ICA building. Ensure venues are properly maintained and meet necessary NCAA and playing rules specifications. • Work closely with and develop strong relationship with campus partners to perform maintenance repairs within applicable University policy. • Oversee FTE responsible for variety of facility related items: daily turf maintenance, creation of annual turf maintenance plan, grounds equipment operation maintenance and storage, general facility cleanup as need. • Oversee FTE and provide weekly facilities and vehicle related status reports. • Oversight of all related department equipment, vehicles and carts inclusive of maintenance, storage and disposal. • Work closely with campus units and approved outside vendors to support facility needs. • Initiate and coordinate special projects at venues. • Assist the Athletics Director and Deputy Athletics Director on major renovations and capital projects planning and execution. • Oversee scheduling of facilities and spaces includes facilitation of use agreements and contracts process.
• 5% Other / General - • Represent ICA at monthly Major Event Meetings. • Represent ICA at governance meetings and conference meetings related to facilities and events. • Submit and reconcile bids/budgets for Post Season Conference & NCAA Competitions. • Serve as ICA safety coordinator. • Coordinates with relevant campus officials (BFS Procurement, EH&S when necessary and ICA Business Office) and execution of all contracts including but not limited to: Games, Special Events and Rental / Use Agreements. • Creates venue specific operational /emergency plans. • Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics and Deputy Director of Athletics.
