Provide medical care for university student-athletes including but not limited to prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and referral for injuries, illnesses, and mental health conditions.
Primary coverage of assigned teams including practices and games with travel as needed
Coordinate with strength and conditioning staff and coaching staff on appropriate injury prevention techniques
Immediate care and evaluation of athletic injuries
Post-injury treatment and rehabilitation including post-surgical care
Referral to appropriate providers and continued communication with those providers to ensure the best possible care
Triaging and assessing illnesses and mental health issues with referral to appropriate providers when necessary, including continued communication with those providers
Communicate injury status and athlete availability with coaching staff
Provide administrative leadership for athletic training department.
Coordinate athletic training activities for 16

Division II teams and spirit squad. (Approximately 350 Student-Athletes)
Develop and update policies and procedures for athletic training department consistent with University,

, State, and Federal rules and regulations
Provide supervision, work direction, and make hiring suggestions for five full-time athletic trainers
Provide supervision, work direction, and recruit/hire work-study and regular payroll students
Serves as the main liaison from the athletic training department with the
MSUM
Counseling Center to advocate for student-athletes
Develop relationships with local health care providers and serve as the main contact with MSUM’s team physicians and providers/administration at Sanford Health to advocate for best possible medical treatment
Monitor athletic training budget and make decisions on purchasing, replacing, and re-conditioning equipment and medical supplies
Manage, order, and monitor inventory
Make all sport assignments for the staff athletic trainers and ensure that all athletic events and major sporting events are covered

Required Education:
Earned master’s degree in athletic training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field.
Current Professional Licensure/Certification:
Certified Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification with the ability to become a Licensed Athletic Trainer by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice

Nine Month Faculty Appointments
Along with all other Universities that are part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, standard faculty appointments are for 168 duty days distributed over any nine consecutive months. The nine months need not align with the traditional academic year and may be changed every two years. Initial faculty appointments at

Moorhead are expected to be similar to or the same as the academic year unless otherwise indicated on the vacancy notice.
