Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations is responsible for overseeing the Athletics Department budget and financial operations; managing personnel operations and serving as the liaison to Human Resources; overseeing the department’s apparel contract and equipment operation; serving as sport administrator for assigned sports; and complying with Stetson University and NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
Develop, monitor, and manage the Athletics department’s budget, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives
Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to provide insights into the department’s financial performance and future needs
Prepare financial reports and statements, such as the EADA report
Oversee approval of departmental expenses to ensure they are within budget and comply with relevant policies and regulations
Oversee department’s human resources processes and serve as liaison to University’s Chief People Officer and People Operations/HR office
Provide oversight of department’s apparel contract and equipment operations and staff
Serve as sport administrator for one or more teams as assigned by the Director of Athletics, which may involve being on site for sporting events and practices, requiring the ability to move about the campus and travel with teams
Perform other site and position specific responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills
Strong financial background, with experience making accurate financial projections and forecasting
Experience working with campus partners in the areas of financial management and human resources
A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of NCAA regulations
Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced knowledge of Excel
Professional experience in an athletics business office and/or financial operations
Knowledge of NCAA Division 1 rules and regulations; and a commitment to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the NCAA and ASUN Conference as required
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Athletics Administration, Business Administration/Management, or related field
Progressively responsible experience in Athletics Administration
Previous experience serving as a sport administrator for one or more athletic teams
Work Environment: Works primarily in an office environment. Some travel with teams may be required. May involve being on site for practices and sporting events to interact with assigned sport.
