Associate Director Athletics

Johns Hopkins offers a robust recreation program that includes group fitness classes, personal training, outdoor experiential education, aquatic activities, sports clubs, and intramural sports. In a typical year, our programs and facilities receive approximately 250,000 visits from students, staff, and faculty. The Department of Recreation is the largest employer of students on campus and additionally provides robust student leadership development opportunities. In 2021, Hopkins Athletics and Recreation completed a $27 million-dollar renovation and expansion of the Ralph S. O’Connor Center for Recreation and Well-Being. Built as a cross-collaborative campus destination, the facility features all-new state-of-the-art equipment for strength and cardiovascular training, expanded group fitness offerings, and mindfulness and meditation programming. The focus is on fostering holistic student health, a community of care, and an increased emphasis on self-care and well-being.

The Department of Athletics and Recreation seeks an innovative and forward-thinking leader to assume the role of Associate Director Athletics. Hopkins encourages inquiries from candidates who value professional and personal development and will actively contribute to a culture of inclusiveness within both the department and University setting. The Associate Athletic Director / Director of Recreation Services is directly supervised by the Deputy Director of Athletics and Recreation. This position has significant interactions with faculty and staff, students, alumni, and other outside constituencies.
