JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides leadership to the Coordinator of Facilities and Events, Coordinator for Recreation and Athletic Operations, and ensures proper facility operations at the Woodruff Physical Education Center (WPEC) and the Student Activity and Academic Center (SAAC).
Assists the Senior Director of Recreation and Athletic Facilities in the day-to-day oversight of facilities maintenance, improvements, and Athletics events.
Directly supervises and evaluates performance of two full-time employees and one part time graduate assistant. Oversees the employment of approximately seventy-five student staff.
Assists the Director of Athletics, Senior Director of Recreation and Athletic Facilities and direct reports to create a detailed budget for assigned areas. Develops a system of accountability for transactions within annual budget allocations.
Assists with budget oversight for facility improvements (capital projects) and maintenance as well as events. Administers and monitors established contracts with service providers; negotiates competitive bids from prospective vendors and suppliers.
Oversees capital equipment procurement. Works collaboratively with Athletics head coaches, assistant coaches, and recreation and wellness programming staff who use the facilities for scheduling and space assignments. Acts as liaison for athletic and recreational facilities for Recreation & Wellness.
Schedules all athletics practices, contests, and recreation programs in University scheduling software. Maintains master schedule for facilities to include all indoor facility and outdoor field reservations (Athletics, Recreation & Wellness and internal student user groups).
Develops and reviews recommendations regarding short-term and long-range facility projects. Assists in developing long-range financial planning and development.
Clarifies and resolves complex problems spanning all aspects of the WPEC and SAAC and all outdoor Athletics venues. Researches and develops new initiatives and technologies to improve service, enhance revenue, and realize system wide opportunities.
Abides by all NCAA, conference and institutional eligibility regulations and NCAA Principles of Ethical Conduct. Develops and oversees energy conservation plan and assume role of Building Representative for the Office of Sustainability Initiatives.
Works collaboratively with Campus Services to develop strategic and preventative maintenance plan, janitorial and fire safety for assigned facilities.
Coordinates with outside contractors to schedule maintenance and repairs at appropriate times. Leads and supports the Coordinator for Facilities and Events to ensure varsity and special event set-up and preparations are complete.
Provides guidance and leadership for to all game day facility staff to ensure successful home games and special events. Works with internal and external support staff to prepare detailed plans, outlines and diagrams for distribution to carry out contractual and departmental obligations in conjunction with events.
Serves on NCAA host management team as needed. Serves in an on-call function to support operations at the facilities. Maintains all athletics motor vehicles to include reservations and maintenance.
Serves as a department ranking staff member on duty for operations and facilities; which includes, but is not limited to, serving as a first responder for emergency situations and providing emergency care, providing customer service, resolving conflicts and making decision and judgments regarding program and facility usage.
Assists with any drop in recreation patrons as needed. Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in sports administration management, recreation, physical education or a related field, and three years of related experience in intercollegiate athletics facility management and operations.
A master's degree in sports administration/management, recreation, physical education is preferred.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
This position is a full time, twelve-month , exempt professional staff member within the Department of Athletics and reports to the Deputy Athletics Director for External Events.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
