Gettysburg College seeks a collaborative, committed professional to serve as its new Associate Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving. The ideal candidate will have experience with—and enthusiasm for— recruiting and leading volunteers, event planning, and making informed decisions on fundraising communications. As a member of the Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving team, the Associate Director is responsible for increasing alumni engagement and giving through three key areas: athletic alumni engagement and giving, reunions, and career engagement. The Associate Director has the unique opportunity to recruit the first cohort of alumni mentors, a key initiative in the College’s Strategic Direction. Gettysburg College seeks candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of alumni, students, colleagues, and community members.

A residential, undergraduate college of the liberal arts and sciences, Gettysburg College prepares students from across the nation and around the globe to pursue lives of personal and professional fulfillment and to engage in society through effective leadership and socially responsible citizenship. The 2,400 students are provided with a wealth of opportunities to get involved outside the classroom. Located in the historic town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the College is within two hours of Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.
Primary Responsibilities:
Athletics Engagement & Giving
· Working with the Director of the Orange & Blue Club, coordinate the development of giving and engagement communications to promote the Orange & Blue Club and engagement of our alumni athletes
· Plan and execute 5 – 7 sports-specific athletic alumni events on and off-campus
Reunions
· Recruit, train and manage approximately 10-15 reunion committee volunteers for the 25th and 30th reunion classes.
· Lead committees in meeting their attendance and fundraising goals through effective training and organized outreach efforts.
· Coordinate class-specific events during Reunion Weekend
· Organize monthly reunion committee calls that may take place in the evening.
Career Engagement
· Recruit and support the inaugural group of 250 alumni mentors for the rising junior class in the spring of 2025. The alumni mentor program will officially launch in the fall of 2025.
· Continue recruitment in the 2025-2026 academic year to reach 750-1,000 alumni mentors, ensuring there is an available mentor for every junior and senior who opts into the alumni mentoring program.
· Develop 2-3 professional affinity networks of alumni that serves to engage alumni in those fields.
· Plan and attend Alumni Networking Events in collaboration with the Center for Career Engagement.
This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position with a competitive salary complemented by an available benefits package including medical and dental insurance, 22 vacation days, 403(b) retirement contributions, dependent tuition benefits, and parent leave. The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving is eligible to request a hybrid status of up to two days of remote work. Currently, all Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving staff members work in the office on Tuesdays to allow for team meetings. This is in accordance with the College’s Remote and Hybrid Work Policy .
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree required
· 1-3 years of relevant experience is required, 3-5 years of experience is highly preferred
Preferred experience
· Experience with volunteer and event management
· Understanding of and dedication to the goals of higher education
· Knowledge of fundraising practices
· Experience with Ellucian Advance or similar relational databases, and Microsoft Office products, is highly preferred
Required Skills
· Excellent organizational abilities, with strong oral and written communication skills
· Creativity, and ability to build positive and productive relationships with constituents
· Flexibility to assume new duties and responsibilities as the position grows professionally
· Ability to work collegially as a team member, meet deadlines, and thrive in a goal-oriented environment
· Must have a valid driver’s license, as occasional driving is required for this position
