The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics competes at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics with the vision to reach Next Level Success for all 18 varsity teams and more than 500 student-athletes. The Bearcats have a proud athletics history, winning eight national championships and 117 conference titles. The Cincinnati men's basketball team is among the 15 winningest programs all-time, while the football team became the first American Athletic Conference program to compete in the College Football Playoff in 2021. Olympic gold medalist volleyball player Jordan Thompson, NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson and Major League Baseball legend Sandy Koufax are among the several luminaries who have competed as Bearcats.

UC student-athletes collectively posted a 3.4 overall GPA in the spring of 2023, resulting in 11 consecutive semesters of a 3.3 department GPA or higher.

Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati (UC), Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Associate Director of Equipment (Sr. Supervisor Athletic Equipment) for the football program. This is a full-time position, salaried, with a comprehensive benefits package.

The successful candidate will report to the Associate AD for Operations and will be expected to serve as leader and to manage football athletic equipment personnel and operations while following University of Cincinnati and departmental policies, NCAA Division I, and Conference bylaws and regulations. The position requires evening, weekend and holiday hours. Must be able to travel with the team.

Essential Functions

• Serve as supervisor and expert resource to assigned sports programs.
• Organize and issue all apparel and equipment to all individuals who are associated with the assigned sport.
• Prepare equipment budget and purchase equipment for assigned sports.
• Consult with coaches to establish equipment needs.
• Maintain inventory of athletic equipment. May coordinate the replacement of equipment with adherence to national equipment standards.
• Establish policies and procedures for the issuance, maintenance, and storage of athletic equipment for assigned sports.
• Ensure the evaluation order, repair, and preparation of equipment for practice and competition. Maintain and repair specialty equipment as needed. May be responsible for fitting of protective equipment.
• Responsible for equipment setup, maintenance and tear down for practices and game days including communication systems.
• Coordinate the travel plans for equipment. Serve as equipment contact for visiting teams.
• Monitor proper use of University logos on athletic apparel in accordance with licensing regulations. Work with vendors and agencies to resolve logo and licensing issues.
• Coordinate daily laundry for assigned sport and in collaboration with other sport programs schedules.
• May coordinate recruiting, scheduling and training of student helpers.
• Supervise the overall operation of equipment facilities. Ensure facilities are maintained, machinery is repaired/replaced, and OSHA standards are followed.
• May be required to drive a university vehicle and/or students.
• May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
• Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree

Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Trainings/Certifications

• Certified by the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA)
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable record

Required Experience

Three (3) years of relevant work experience in athletic equipment maintenance or management
