POSITION SUMMARY: Associate/Sr Associate Athletic Trainer - Men's Basketball
Assumes overall responsibility for the application, administration, and documentation of comprehensive healthcare services for high-risk and/or high-profile Division I teams and student-athletes as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine and Student-Athlete Welfare. Provides counseling and health education to student-athletes and coaches. Manages emergency response to emergency situations that occur within the athletic department. Collaborates and works closely with all members of athletic department and in particular as division with other members of the SP4 team. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Development – to collaborate as part of SP4 team Compliance – To work in cooperation on medically related compliance matters
Academics – To communicate the effect medical status on academic attendance or performance. Facilities and Events – To communicate emergency action plans and severe weather updates. Athletic Equipment Manager – To collaborate on protective equipment and staff clothing orders Athletic PR – to provide communication to media about medical issues and update sports medicine website.
Student Health Center – Referral and assessment of student-athletes. Disability Services – to coordinate disability services for student-athletes
Counseling and Psychological Services – Referral for student-athletes with mental health needs. Strength & Conditioning – Supervision of health and safety and communication of injured student-athlete limitations.
Campus Police – to collaborate on emergency response.
Physical Plant – To conduct facility maintenance and repair.
Custodial Services – To collaborate on sanitation of medical facilities.
Registered Dietitians – To provide education and counseling to student-athletes.
Team Physicians and Consulting Subspecialists – To provide medical services to student-athletes. Resource Exchange Center – To provide nutritional supplements and drug education.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED** :**
Supervision of 1-3 Assistant or Associate Athletic Trainers. May supervise athletic training students and work-study aides
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT: Environment – Requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Exposures encountered - Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. Essential physical requirements: Climbing, standing, stooping, typing, running
Physical effort/lifting: Heavy Lifting – over 50 pounds. Required to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, travel, and be on-call as a regular part of the job.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & experience:
VA Board of Medicine License to practice Athletic Training NPI Number is required
Requires a valid driver's license for at least 3 years
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm. 38.75 hours per week. Some nights and weekends. Requires travel.
Salary Range: $50,461 to $76,877; salary based on experience level
