Assistant Sports Performance Coach Job Description –The Assistant Sports Performance Coach is responsible for the development and management of individual and group strength, agility and speed training programs for men and women student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program under the supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance.-Provides specific feedback to the student athletes of their performance in relation to the department’s standards.-Creates a positive culture of physical and mental well-being for the teams he/she works with and all Loyola student-athletes.-Provides SAs with outcome driven programs based on the injury profile and physical demands of the sport.-Fosters a positive atmosphere and promote dedication to the program through interaction with the coaching staff and SAs.- Educate all athletes on the rules of the weight room, safety procedures, and proper training techniques- Schedule all workouts according to priority of in-season and off-season training with the cooperation of all the head coaches-Coordinate with and assist the sports medicine staff in rehabilitative efforts for injured athletes-Perform administrative duties that include maintenance of athlete records, returning phone calls/emails and basic daily operations-Educate athletes on proper nutrition and supplementation and provide referrals where appropriate-Maintain a clean and safe weight room environmentProvide winter and summer break training manuals for all sports teams- Attend all-staff meetings- Continue to raise the bar of excellence for every athlete
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Two years of collegiate coaching experience in designated sport required. Understanding of and compliance with NCAA rules and regulations and commitment to the mission of Jesuit higher education.
Must have current strength and conditioning certification from a nationally recognized certification program and First Aid, CPR, AED certification.
