POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Associate Directors of Events, this position assists with the planning and execution of event management and facility operations for the University of South Florida Athletics Department. Plans, organizes, and coordinates support groups within the Athletic Department, the University, and external groups. Provides leadership and organizational skills prior to, during, and after all athletic events to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all in attendance. Serves as the main point of contact for security, concessions, visiting team, and officials. In
addition, ensures that all daily facilities tasks are being handled and planning of facilities projects, repairs, and preventative maintenance are all being well communicated and executed. Adheres to all NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates and oversees gameday operations for USF's 19 intercollegiate varsity team sports, including football and basketball. Develops and implements policies, organizational goals, objectives, and operating procedures. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, preparation of USF athletics facilities for varsity sport competitions, practices and game day operation; coordinates with coaches, sports medicine staff, equipment room staff, marketing and promotions, University officials and department administrators to ensure successful execution of intercollegiate athletics events as well as special events or meetings, conferences, sports camps, championships).competitions that are hosted at Athletics facilities or sports fields (i.e. Special Olympics,
Serves as the primary liaison between the visiting team coaches/officials/representatives and USF Athletics. Contacts visiting team representatives prior to visit to gather information, special requests/requirements and ensures visiting team's needs are fulfilled. Prepares event logistical packets (includes event information, time lines, setup requirements etc.) for use by the visiting team upon arrival.
Assists with operational budget planning. Responsible for making purchases for Event Management department, implementing cost-saving tactics and ensuring purchases are within the operational budget. Assists with the planning, developing and implementing policies and procedures related to the event operations of intercollegiate athletics. Makes recommendations in the bidding processes and contractual services for athletic facility upgrades and maintenance needs.
Ensures policies are being met in terms of safety of the student-athletes, coaches, fans, and working staff. (Example: If a weather storm is approaching, it is the responsibility of this individual to ensure that everyone in attendance is abiding to protocol. Make recommendation to postpone game and discuss options with both schools to reschedule game if needed.) Ensures effective adherence to the applicable national, state, and university crowd control/safety/access codes and policies.
Assists with special projects and preparation/booking of outside events and
championships unaffiliated with USF's intercollegiate sports programs. Works directly with external contacts to understand and implement client's logistical requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, public relations, technical writing, digital media, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master's degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
PREFERRED:
One year relevant experience in athletics or event management
