Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning/Assistant Weightlifting Coach is responsible for establishing and maintaining strength and conditioning programs for entrusted sports, with three major goals: reducing probability of injury in sport, improving athletic performance by devising training plans according to sound scientific principles, supervising training sessions, evaluating athletes, and maintaining athlete records. In addition, the selected candidate will meet regularly with sport coaches and athletic training staff to ensure an open line of communication is maintained. Lastly, the position is responsible for maintaining the strength and conditioning facility, and for reinforcing policies, plans, and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the facility and its student-athletes.

Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning/Assistant Weightlifting Coach is responsible for establishing and maintaining strength and conditioning programs for entrusted sports, with three major goals: reducing probability of injury in sport, improving athletic performance by devising training plans according to sound scientific principles, supervising training sessions, evaluating athletes, and maintaining athlete records. In addition, the selected candidate will meet regularly with sport coaches and athletic training staff to ensure an open line of communication is maintained. Lastly, the position is responsible for maintaining the strength and conditioning facility, and for reinforcing policies, plans, and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the facility and its student-athletes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under supervision of the Director of Strength & Conditioning, develop and monitor strength and conditioning programs for any assigned athletic teams
Work in cooperation with the sports medicine or athletic training staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.
Facilitate a collaborative relationship among sport coaches, sports medicine, and the strength and conditioning staff.
Implement policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program in accordance with the NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards Guidelines.
Maintain systems for tracking student-athlete attendance and progress in conjunction with the Strength & Conditioning Department’s policies and sport coaches.
Conduct an annual needs-analysis for entrusted teams in conjunction with the sport coach and the team’s athletic trainer at the conclusion of each sport season.
Reinforce expectations for student-athlete conduct that mirror the expectations of Mars Hill University and the Strength & Conditioning Department for curricular and extra-curricular activities, as stated in the University’s Student Code of Conduct and Strength & Conditioning Department Policies and Procedures manual.
Assist the Director of Strength & Conditioning in any additional tasks, as needed.

Qualifications:
BS in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field.
Currently holds a nationally accredited certification. (NSCA, CSCCa)
Current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
Previous experience at the collegiate, high school, or professional level.
Strong motivational abilities and eagerness to learn.
Evidence of ability to interact positively with student athletes, colleagues, and the community.
Evidence of strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
