Job Summary
Apply NowUnder general supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine and team physicians the position will provide injury evaluation, management and rehabilitation to UC Davis Intercollegiate student athletes.
Uses skills as an athletic training professional with a full understanding of industry practice and campus policies & procedures; resolves a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Able to communicate complex medical diagnoses and treatment strategies with student athletes, parents, coaches, staff and physicians.
Coordinate at a high-level injury prevention, evaluation, management, referral and rehabilitation for all assigned UC Davis intercollegiate student athletes. Share responsibility with sports medicine unit services for various team as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine. Coordinate physical exams and emergency care, perform manual and functional rehabilitation skills, apply tape, padding, braces, stretching and wrapping. Design and supervise rehabilitation programs and organize injury prevention programs includingFMSand corrective exercises. Timely evaluation and treatment ofICAinjuries. Timely referral of student athletes to appropriate UC Davis team physicians. Communicate student athlete progress to coaches, physicians, strength and conditioning staff and director of sports medicine. Attend annual team meeting at beginning of athletic season that includes education on concussion policy, sickle cell trait, use of supplements,NCAAdrug testing,ADHD,HIPAAand trauma training.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Additional Minimum License/Certification
In good standing with Board of Certification.
National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification.
Certified Athletic Trainer.
CurrentCPR/AEDfor the professional rescuer certification.
Minimum Education/Experience
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics as related to musculoskeletal athletic injuries of the peripheral joints and spine.
Skills to perform clinical and sideline evaluation of injury, and to design and implement basic treatment programs. Knowledge and basic skill in therapeutic exercise techniques and functional progression programs.
Skills to operate, coordinate, and supervise use of therapeutic modalities.
Knowledge of common systemic illnesses and management which may interfere with a student-athletes athletic participation. Skills in the application of protective wraps, tape and bracing devices.
Skills in progressing student-athletes’ rehabilitation programs independently or in consultation with team physician.
Knowledge of medical record management.
Preferred:
Preferred Education/Experience
Master’s degree in athletic training or related field.
3 years of experience or 2 years of experience Div I.
