Roosevelt University seeks Athlete Academic Success Coordinator to be available to meet with continuing, new, and prospective student athletes and report on the eligibility of each student athlete and maintain University
NCAA
compliance. This position is responsible for ensuring that all student-athletes are eligible to participate in intercollegiate athletics in accordance with
NCAA
guidelines, and institutional regulations. This role involves the evaluation and monitoring of academic progress and maintaining accurate records of student-athlete compliance. This is a full-time, exempt position located on the Chicago campus. This position reports to the Associate Director of Student Progress and Technology.
Some evening and weekend hours required.

A bachelor’s degree.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in a college environment working within student development or academic advising.
Ability to use computerized student information systems and personal computing software.
Proven ability to perform assigned administrative duties focused on supporting our advising, recruitment, and retention efforts.
Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt’s core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
A positive and professional demeanor is a must.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year of experience in college athletics administration, compliance, or academic advising.
Familiarity with Ellucian/Banner and reporting software A.R.M.S and Argos.
Basic office equipment (desktop computer, copier/ multi-function device, fax and telephone).
Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition. Moderate level of stress. Occasional travel within the local or regional setting may be required.
Essential Job Functions
| Duty and Responsibility |
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations`, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Prepare and submit required reports to the NCAA conference, and institution.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure institutional compliance.
- Attend all necessary meetings and trainings to better understand revisions to current policies. Maintain all registrars reporting and data validation between Student Information System and A.R.M.S.
- Track and monitor academic progress of student-athletes to ensure compliance with academic standards and progress-toward-degree requirements.
- Collaborate with academic advisors and faculty to support student-athletes’ academic success including creating pre-advising plans for course selections before the start of registration for an academic term in collaboration with Academic Advising, review and approve change of registration forms for student-athletes when appropriate, create and maintain registration campaigns for student-athletes.
- Train on and maintain reporting tools like EAB campaigns for monitoring compliance markers. Work closely with offices of Academic Advising, Registrar, Admission, Financial Aid, and other necessary offices to gather information for eligibility certification.

- Communicate eligibility status and related information to coaches, student-athletes, and other relevant parties.
- Educate student-athletes, coaches, and staff on NCAA guidelines and regulations, and institutional eligibility requirements.
- Manage communication and coordination of off campus events and competitions and how may relate to in classroom disruption.
- Check registration rosters for athletic event eligibility, create practice and class available schedules and distribute to RU community.
- Enter the completion rate percentage in comparison to the years of attendance and participation.

- Manage registration troubleshooting and compliance for student athletes.
- Work collaboratively with faculty and advisors to determine need course availability and progress towards completion.
- Arrange for study group opportunities and other retention initiatives for student athletes in like programs and coursework.
- Assist with special projects and initiatives related to athletics compliance and eligibility.
- Attend relevant training and professional development opportunities to stay current with industry standards and changes in regulations.

- Complete additional administrative duties, including preparation of reports on student athletes, creation and updating of training materials, and support faculty and staff in responding to student athletes questions or issues.
- Exemplify the qualities of the service initiative C.A.R.E. by exhibiting the qualities of consistent, accessible, respectful and efficient service to all internal and external constituents.
- The Athlete Academic Success Coordinator may be assigned additional related tasks in support of the department/University’s mission and goals.
