Athletic Academic Advisement Assistant
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full time experience in an academic advising, counseling or student services setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Education or related field. Additional years (3+) of full time experience in an academic advising, counseling or student services setting. Understanding of NCAA Compliance Rules (played a Division I, II or III sport, coached in collegiate athletics or as a staff member in a collegiate athletic program). Previous experience with a Division I Athletic Program. Experience in higher education. Experience working with at risk students.

They will assist in the evaluation, monitoring and development of the academic advising, tutoring, and academic progress and Life Skills programs in place for all student-athletes. The Athletic Academic Advisement Assistant will execute all duties in compliance with NCAA policies and procedures. Incumbent must have commitment to the successful academic and personal development of Stony Brook student-athletes.

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
For this position, we are unable to sponsor candidates for work visas.
Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
