We are currently seeking a full-time and onsite Athletic Academic Specialist in our Mastodon Academic Performance (MAP) Center. This position assists in the support and execution of MAP academic and life skills programs, monitors NCAA Academic satisfactory progress for all student-athletes and qualification of potential student-athletes, and co-delivers NCAA-mandated and other developmental programs for student-athletes.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct academic support to approximately half of the athletic teams.
Assist with all functions of the MAP Center, including Eligibility Certification and Meeting with potential student athletes during recruiting visits.
Provide academic coaching to student-athletes who need additional support with developing organization skills, developing time management skills, exam preparation, and planning assistance.
Teach Freshmen Success class geared directly for and toward student-athletes.
Assist MAP Center in supporting and providing life skills opportunities for student-athletes.
Monitors the hours and use of the Study Table area and reports that information to appropriate staff.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree.
Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Strong organizational skills.
A demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
Strong communication skills.
This position requires the ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Academic Advising and Life Skills Development.
Experience in an Athletics Department.
Proficient skills in using computer software (Banner, DegreeWorks, LSDBi, Compliance Assistant, etc.).
Knowledge in student development, advising, learning, and retention theories.
A familiarity with NCAA Academic Eligibility regulations.
