Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.
Monitor Continuing Eligibility of Student-Athletes
Active student-athlete records are reviewed and updated for continuing eligibility. This includes interpreting and applying all necessary NCAA rules and regulations. This data is entered into the Data Eligibility Report and Compliance Assistant where it is continually monitored and updated with changes to the student-athlete academic record. Final certification and squad lists are determined from this information. A complete review of degree progress requirements and academic standing data to determine academic eligibility for all 18 sports is completed following the end of each semester and after summer school for those enrolled. Eligibility memos are created for each team to certify each athlete as eligible for practice and competition.
Monitor Degree Progress of Student-Athletes
Reviews current credits to ensure enrollment in academic courses are applicable to the declared baccalaureate degree program. Update progress towards degree (PTD) calculations. This requires being familiar with major requirements, curriculum changes, and courses acceptable for degree progress. A determination of potential deficiencies in both NCAA percentages and degree progress policy is made by the Athletic Certification Specialist. This information is reviewed with the Athletic Academic Advisors, Executive Director and Assistant Directors of NCAA Compliance, Senior Assoc AD, and Faculty Athletic representative deferring any conflict in rules interpretation to the NCAA.
Determine Eligibility of Recruits
Records of potential student-athletes (predominately transfer and on occasion high school) are sent for review to the Athletic Certification Specialist for determination of eligibility prior to an official campus visit. All documents are examined using Boise State University transfer, admissions rules, and guidelines as well as NCAA and Mountain West Conference (MWC) rules and regulations. Once the outcome is determined, the Athletic Certification Specialist discusses with the Associate Athletic Director and Assistant Director of NCAA Compliance whether to permit an official visit.
Graduation Assessment
