The purpose of this position is to assist the director of athletics in providing leadership for Defender Athletics. This individual will support the mission of the university, the Defender Way, and bring knowledge and passion to the Dordt University athletic department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Distribute athletics information to the media.
Help design and produce programs and promotional materials.
Provide content, update, and organize the website against self-imposed deadlines.
Compile and update statistics for JV, Varsity, and Club teams.
Maintain historical records for Dordt University athletics.
Assist in the production, direction, and coordination of the athletic webcast schedule.
manage and maintain athletic social media accounts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.

A bachelor’s degree, along with acceptance into a Dordt masters' program
Basic mathematical and accounting skills needed for compiling stats and monitoring advertising sales.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, administration, media, and public.
Computer skills including word processing, email, and statistical programs.
Knowledge and understanding of all sports offered by Dordt University.
Willingness to work evenings and Saturdays.
Ability to be proficient in operation of in-game statistical programs such as Dakstats.
Abitility to plan with, work with, manage, and delegate a calendar with multiple events.
Abiltity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work with student-workers in producing a professional product.
Ability to build and develop relationships with a variety of contacts (i.e.: coaches, the public, parents, constituents, and external media).
Learn, understand, and consider the unique interests of our internal and external contacts when writing and distributing sports information.
