Position Description
| Position Summary |
The Athletic Communications Coordinator supports all efforts of marketing, communications, and public relations from Messiah Athletics. The role specifically focuses on maintaining GoMessiah.com, social media channels, in-game statistics, and the execution of home competition coverage. The Athletic Communications Coordinator serves as a role model in meeting our complimentary goals of “Pursuing Athletics Excellence…Developing Christian Character.”

Bachelor’s Degree required, Field of Study: Athletic Administration, Sports Journalism, and/or Sport Management), Communications, or similar field
|
| Education Preferred |
Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Sports Management, or similar field.

Minimum of one-year experience in writing and statistics

| Experience Preferred |
Minimum of one-year experience working in a collegiate athletic communications office, ideally at the small-college level in a student-worker, intern, or full-time position.

• Ability to administer components of sports information work (e.g., statistics, news media, web site, publications);
• Ability to train student workers to aid in meeting sports information needs;
• Ability to speak and write appropriately and develop marketing strategies to reach regional and national media and supporters;
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the stages of student development and the importance of holistic education; and
• Demonstrate a commitment to continued learning/professional development (e.g., presentations, publications, serving on regional and/or national committees).

| Primary Duties |
1. Work independently at athletic contests and manage all aspects including, but not limited to, live streaming, statistics, and troubleshooting.
2. Manage student workers, GA’s or other employees at events.
3. Supervise statistics collection at contests and maintain accurate statistical records.
4. Oversee reporting of scores and other results to appropriate media outlets.
5. Produce game recaps and other news items for placement on website and with appropriate media outlets.
6. Supervise operation of athletic websites (GoMessiah.com; GoMessiah.tv).
7. Supervise athletics photography for contests and special events.
8. Supervise videography and live streaming efforts of contests and special projects.
9. Operate athletics general social media accounts.
10. Coordinate production of publications including seasonal schedules, game programs, and NCAA programs.
11. Supervise student workers for athletic communications game operation positions.
12. Execute game day operation in coordination with the game day administrator.
13. Assist the Athletic Department with special projects and student-athlete programming.
14. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
