JOB DESCRIPTION
Newberry College is seeking candidates for a Graphic Design Graduate Assistant position within the Athletics Communication department. The successful applicant will serve a two-year assistantship, assisting in the day-to-day operations of the office which serves the athletic department's 26 teams. Newberry College is a member of the South Atlantic Conference and NCAA Division II. Compensation includes Full Tuition Waiver for Master of Science in Organizational Development & Leadership OR Master of Science in Sport Management & Leadership, housing, and an on-campus meal plan. The assistantship position at Newberry has a long tradition of hard- working individuals who have gone on to become contributors to their profession over the last decade. Alumni of the program include head and assistant SID’s in all three NCAA divisions and others in minor league baseball front offices.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Serve the Athletic Communications and Marketing office in producing quality print and digital materials to advance the college’s goals of highlighting student-athletes and Newberry College Athletics.
Conceptualize and deliver high-quality material that engages, impacts, and supports the department’s goals of audience engagement, message amplification, and information delivery.
Work on various projects for the department, including developing graphics to promote home games, student-athlete accolades and designing social media visuals and templates.
Contribute to other areas critical to the mission of the Athletics Communication and Marketing Office, such as website graphics, and photo/video needs for the college’s primary social media accounts.
Reporting to the Director of Athletic Communications, the Graphic Design Graduate Assistant will play an important role in helping maintain the college’s brand identity with consistent and quality work.
Working on digital and print advertising campaigns with the Athletic Communications director and Associate Athletic Director for External Relations. This assistant may be responsible for the coverage of 3-5 sports.
The ideal candidate will have photo/video, animation, and social media experience.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletic Communications.

EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, art, communication or related field. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, AfterEffects Illustrator, Lightroom) required. Strong design and creative ability. Self-starter; able to work independently after project direction. Works well under tight deadlines. Ability to manage multiple projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong conceptual skills with ability to execute from concept through production. Understanding of pre-press and print vendors.
