The University of West Alabama is accepting applications for a graduate assistant in Athletic Communications, reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. The selected candidate will assist in the publication and promotion of the University of West Alabama’s 16 varsity athletic programs.

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in sports management/administration, business management, marketing, communications, or related field.
• Candidate must be accepted and enrolled in a graduate program at the University of West Alabama.
• Knowledge of in-game statistics and website software (SIDEARM Sports, PrestoStats, StatCrew).
• Experience with various Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Premier).
• Excellent editing skills.
• Excellent interpersonal verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized and driven.
• Self-motivated.
• Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as needed.
• Ability and willingness to attend campus events.
• Some travel may be required.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Desired:

• At least one-year of experience in college athletic communication/sports information department.
• Experience with photography and videography.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as primary contact for select sports assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications.
• Write and edit various communication materials, game recaps, game notes, and sport-specific content for the department’s website.
• Keep in-game statistics using NCAA Live Stats, PrestoSports, and/or Stat Crew.

• Assist with game day management, including video streaming of home events.

• Participate in the planning and execution of social media marketing campaigns.

• Assist in the production of game programs for various sports.

• Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications.

Compensation

• Full cost of tuition for graduate courses up to 9 hours per semester.
• Yearly stipend.
• Housing options available on campus.
