ONU Tigers have won 14 straight CCAC commissioner’s cup championships, 9 teams qualified for post-season play in 2022-2023, and the department boasted 9 ranked teams throughout the 2022-2023 academic year. Apply NowThis individual will be responsible for all aspects of directing the ONU athletics programs including managing budgets, hiring coaches, ensuring compliance with regulations, fostering student-athlete development, and maintaining positive relations with stakeholders. The Athletic Director will supervise the Associate AD for Compliance, the Assistant AD for Operations, Sports Information Director, Head Athletic Trainer, Administrative Assistant, and head coaches for the 21 intercollegiate athletic programs. The Athletic Director also works closely with two full-time athletic fundraisers within Institutional Advancement.
Plan for future expansion, such as new athletic venues and/or programs.
Ensure compliance with all NAIA rules and regulations as well as conference and institutional policies.
Oversee the preparation and submission of necessary compliance reports in partnership with faculty athletics representative and university registrar.
Manage athletic facilities of Birchard Gymnasium, Parrott Convocation Center, McHie Arena, Snowbarger Athletic Complex, Ward Field and Varsity Weight Rooms.
Oversight for the recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of coaching staff, training staff and student personnel assigned to the department.
Review annual athletics department budget.
Support academic achievement and persistence of student-athletes by addressing the needs of student athletes including advising, tutoring, early warning/intervention systems, and other appropriate services available online or on campus.
Maintain a positive working relationship with all university personnel and maintain open communication and public relations with students, faculty, staff, administration, parents, alumni, media and community supporters.
Partner with Director of Athletic Development and Development Officer for Athletics to meet fundraising goals for the athletic department.
Maintain positive relationships with alumni, boosters, and the local community and engage in fundraising efforts to support athletic scholarships, facility upgrades, and program enhancements.
Coordinate and supervise athletic recruitment efforts with the Office of Admissions and Office of Financial Aid.
Work with the university's communication and marketing team to promote athletic programs and represent the athletic department in media relations and public appearances.
Collaborate with Student Development to ensure integration with student-centered and student services programming.
Responsible for completion and submission of the annual Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act report.
Actively involved in conference and national meetings, committees, and conventions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The individual in this role will oversee head coaches, administrative assistant, associate athletic director for compliance, assistant athletic director for operations, sports information director, and head athletic trainer.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position will be primarily an administrative assignment. The position is a 12-month full-time position. The position requires some evenings and weekend attendance. There will be occasional travel requirements.
