Position Overview

Reporting directly to the President of the University, the Athletics Director provides leadership and guidance for Wildcat Athletics at Linfield. This individual will be responsible for monitoring the quality of the various programs and to collaborate with student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff, institutional administrators, and a large collective of supports/investors to advance the athletics programs. Within the context of a decades-long tradition of success in competition and in developing students outside of the classroom, Linfield's next AD will be given the opportunity to advance the program at a school that truly acknowledges the importance of sports.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Providing strategic and visionary leadership for the division of intercollegiate athletics, ensuring an environment that enhances student-athletes' growth and the overall student-athlete experience in alignment with the University's mission.
• Game Management. Ensure that coaches, staff, and student-athletes are fully supported during competitions.
• Staff Development and Support. Support the professional development of the administrative and coaching staffs in promoting their accomplishments and establishing positive morale and relationships.
• Foster an Inclusive and Equitable Environment. Lead by example to create a culture of respect, integrity, equity, and diversity, where kindness is a virtue, all teams and student-athletes are championed, and everyone feels a part of a winning team.
• Collaboration Across Campus. Foster a welcoming environment by working collaboratively with campus constituents to facilitate positive change for all student-athletes. Partner and builds relationships with the campus community to develop additional opportunities to enhance the student-athletes experience.
• Policy and Compliance. Oversee the administration of Intercollegiate Athletics, while maintaining accountability for its design, operation, and evaluation, ensuring compliance with institutional, Northwest Conference, NCAA, and state and federal laws and Title IX regulations, guidelines, and requirements.
• Finance and Budgeting Strategy. Analyze and manage budgets and ensure financial responsibility. Develop plans to enhance the revenue-generating capacity through the external functions of the department including fundraising, sponsorship, etc.
• Communications: Craft compelling narratives about the Wildcat athletics, Division III values, and the unique student-athlete experience, which will motivate and inspire different audiences.

Qualifications.

• Master's degree and 10 or more years of intercollegiate athletics experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Superior leadership, management, supervisory, public relations, communications and interpersonal skills, including active and empathetic listening.
• Commitment to a competitive collegiate athletics program in the context of an academically rigorous environment.
• Ability to work successfully with students, faculty, staff, alumni and professional colleagues.
• Commitment to building and maintaining strong connections between athletics and the academic enterprise to ensure success of student-athletes to achieve both athletics and institutional goals.
• Commitment to integrity, equity, and diversity that contributes to the development of an inclusive campus culture.

Founded in 1858, Linfield University is one of the oldest most well-respected colleges in the Pacific Northwest. There have been just four Athletic Directors at the University since 1949, who have been stewards of a culture of competitiveness, but also respect, determination, resourcefulness, and integrity. Our Football team has had more consecutive winning seasons than any other school at any level in the NCAA (67 and counting). But our Women's Softball team is right behind them at 31 winning seasons. Year after year, our teams compete at the highest level, while also enjoying real 'wins' in academic accomplishments and academic honors in the conference and across the division.
