This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Athletic Equipment Coordinator position for the Department of Athletics at Oregon State University (
OSU
).

The Athletic Equipment Coordinator assists the Assistant Athletic Director (AD) of Equipment Operations in coordinating the Olympic Sports Equipment Operations, including vendor relations, receiving and inventorying equipment, and supplies, evaluate safety of equipment, provide maintenance of equipment, launder athletic apparel and distribute athletic equipment and supplies to student-athletes and staff. This position reports directly to the Assistant AD of Equipment Operations. Oversees the storage and security of all team equipment in the equipment room. Will be available for visiting teams, including football and equipment issues that may arise during their stay.

INVENTORY
:
Receive and inventory athletic equipment and supplies according to prescribed procedures as described by central receiving and property management campus divisions. Assess usability of new equipment/materials and provide recommendations for use to management. Maintain written and computerized records of all inventory items relating to athletic equipment and supplies in Gill Coliseum, using prescribed procedures and policies as required by property management. The inventory software used for this process is Sports Soft.

DISTRIBUTION
:
Distributes equipment and supplies to student athletes and coaches as required and ensures proper sizing of equipment for each athlete. Equipment Coordinator maintains an inventory control system for check out and check in records of all athletic supplies. Records are maintained in computerized form.

TRAVEL
:
Ensures timely preparation of all equipment and supplies for away sites after team travel. Some travel is required and if so, all items must be packed according to airline guidelines. An accurate manifest must be provided to the airline upon departure and return. Set up of equipment at away event sight prior to practice and game is required. Game preparation includes coordinating needs with counterpart of opposing team regarding equipment/supply needs; provides the service during home games and seeking needed supplies/equipment at away games. Position will occasionally need to operate university owned vehicles in order to complete some tasks, therefore, the person in this role is required to maintain a current, valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

:
Repairs and maintains athletic equipment as needed. Equipment Coordinator shall utilize prescribed measures as defined by the National Operating Committee of Standards for Athletic Equipment, Manufacturer’s guidelines, and Athletic Equipment Managers Association manual.

TRAINING
:
Provides lead work to student laundry staff and assists when necessary. Provides lead work for Student Managers or Student workers in the Equipment Rooms Gill Coliseum and Valley Football Center. Educates and trains ever changing Student Staff on procedures.
Two years of experience in keeping stores and stores records; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Athletic Equipment Manager’s Association certified or eligible to take exam within one year.
The ability to lift and move objects weighing 50 pounds.
Good communication skills.
Honest, responsible, and accountable.
General knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word OR other inventory management program

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Bachelor’s degree.
Two (2) years of full-time experience in Athletic Equipment Management in Intercollegiate Athletics Division I or professional sports.
Equipment experience at the Division I level or Power 5 level.
Advanced computer skills.
Strong communication skills.
Experience supervising student workers or volunteers.
Experience at a Nike sponsored athletic program.
Capable of working with many different coaches and administrators.
Open, friendly and compatible with coworkers.
The employee in this position may be required to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
Evening, weekend, and holiday work as well as travel may be required in this role.
