Webster University Athletics, a member of NCAA Division III and the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC), invites applications for the position of Athletic Trainer.The Athletic Trainer provides health care services to student-athletes which includes prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. Counsels student-athletes, parents, and staff on issues related to the overall health and welfare of the student-athletes. This position reports to the Director of Athletics. • Coordinates transportation of student-athletes to hospitals and/or doctor’s offices as required.
• Develops individualized rehabilitation programs to aid in the student-athlete’s return to physical activity.
• Counsels student-athletes and coaches on a broad range of health care issues that relate to the well-being of the student-athlete.
• Develops injury/illness prevention programs to help student-athletes identify the various risk factors associated with physical activity.
• Provides athletic training services to various teams for practices and home sporting events.
• Works with Strength and Conditioning coach to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs – both in-and off-season conditioning programs.
• Works in conjunction with the other full-time athletic trainer on athlete treatment and care, event coverage and daily clinic operations.
• Establishes emergency medical policies and procedures for athletes and coaches.
• Schedules athletic training services to various teams for practices and home sporting events.
• Maintains current medical records for student-athletes.
• In conjunction with the other athletic trainer, oversees the work-study student staff.
• Establishes working relationships with local clinics and doctors.
• Attends staff meetings.
• Follows and enforces OSHA requirements and guidelines.
• Adheres to Sports Medicine guidelines established by the NCAA Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports.
• Stays abreast of current theories and practices in the field by reading journals, reference books, and attending professional conferences.
