BASIC FUNCTION:
Staff Athletic Trainers (ATs) work under the direction and supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer (Head AT) and Team Physician to provide health care to approximately 600 varsity student-athletes competing on 20 teams.
Salve's staff of Athletic Trainers provide injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergency care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions for the University's varsity student-athletes in the Athletic Training Clinic and on the field.
The Athletic Trainer will serve as the primary Athletic Training services provider for teams to be determined by the Head AT and includes some travel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide medical coverage for practices and competitions as deemed necessary by the Head AT, including travel for some away contests.
Regular evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and referral of varsity student-athletes' injuries and conditions.
Documentation of injuries, therapy, referrals, and other pertinent interactions.
Provide communication between student-athletes, coaches, Team Physician, and administrators as necessary.
Referral to and communication with appropriate external healthcare practitioners.
Assist with inventory, ordering, and maintenance of the Sports Medicine department supplies and equipment.
Provide supervision and training for student workers in the Athletic Training Room.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with OSHA regulations that pertain to blood-borne pathogens.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer or Director of Athletics.
Work closely with internal support personnel to include the Athletic Administration, Sports Information Director, Office Coordinator, Compliance Officer and Game Management Supervisor in the performance of their duties.
Attend department meetings, designated events and, when appropriate, Admissions Open Houses.
In particular, all coaches and athletics personnel are charged with being knowledgeable of, and assuring and monitoring compliance by all student- athletes, staff and assistant coaches with applicable governing constitutions, by-laws, rules, policies, interpretations and regulations of the NCAA, the University and appropriate athletic conference. Staff members shall immediately advise the Compliance Office if there is reason to believe that violations have occurred or will occur and shall cooperate fully in any investigation of possible NCAA or Conference violations.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
BOC Certification
Rhode Island Athletic Training License (to be obtained before the date of hire)
Appropriate Emergency Cardiac Care certification as required by the BOC.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The incumbent is subject to both inside and outside work and could encounter extreme weather conditions.

Strong work ethic, passion for the profession, and commitment to student-athletes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to University policies and procedures, as well as conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
The candidate should possess quality clinical skills and knowledge, and a strong ability to work autonomously within department guidelines.

Master's Degree, preferred
Experience working with collision sports, such as football and ice hockey, is preferred.
