Description
Summary: This position will assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in the overall management of the athletic training room operations. The primary purpose of this position is to provide athletic training services for practices and games for teams assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. These duties include but are not limited to the set up/take down of training equipment and water for practice and games pregame taping. This position will provide immediate treatment or first aid for injured athletes during the course of athletic events or practices.
Duties: Provides athletic training services for practices and games for teams assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. Coordinates the set up and take down of training equipment and water for practice and games pregame taping. Provides immediate treatment or first aid for injured athletes during the course of athletic events or practices. Coordinates and administers treatments and reconditioning programs for all athletes assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine to include weekends for in season sports. Assists in the coordination of medical appointments for injured student athletes. Assists the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in determining techniques for and insuring the adequate protection of athletes when required for participation in either athletic events or practices. Assists in maintenance of accurate injury reports daily treatment records and other athletic training room forms in accordance with HIPAA/FERPA regulations. Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time. In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act this position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs are individuals at the University who because of their function at the University have an obligation under the Clery Act to notify the University of alleged Clery Crimes that are reported to them in good faith or alleged Clery Crimes that they may personally witness. CSAs will be required to complete training with respect to the Clery Act and the responsibilities of a CSA.
Qualifications: -Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) as well as by New York State -Prior work experience as an Athletic Trainer preferred
Requirements
One to three years prior experience as an Athletic Trainer preferred.
