Job Description

Randolph-Macon College invites applications for a full-time, 10-month Athletic Trainer position. Reporting to the Director of Sports Medicine, this position requires, but is not limited to, prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries within the College’s athletics program, as well as assisting in the management and operation of the Sports Medicine Clinic. 

Responsibilities

  • Provides athletic training coverage for Men’s Soccer, Women’s Basketball, and Women’s Lacrosse, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play decisions.
  • Coordinate care with the team physician and maintaining daily communication with the Director of Sports Medicine and Head Coaches.
  • Maintains comprehensive medical records and performs administrative duties supporting the daily operations of a Division III sports medicine facility, including documentation of injury care, treatment, rehabilitation and referrals.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively with a diverse population including student-athletes, athletic training staff, interns, physicians, coaches, and other sports medicine personnel.
  • Adheres to professional standards and expectations of Randolph-Macon College, the athletic department, and Sports Medicine, while ensuring compliance with NCAA, ODAC, and NATA rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Position requires extended hours, weekend work, some travel, and additional duties assigned by Director of Sports Medicine. 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in specialized curriculum accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education is required. 
  • 3+ years of professional experience specifically with injury prevention and managing multiple teams in a high-volume clinical environment required.
