The University of Southern Maine’s Athletic Department is seeking applicants for their Athletic Trainer. USM Athleticsis an important and exciting part of student life at the University of Southern Maine and over 500 student-athletes who routinely compete at the regional and national level. As anNCAA Division III member institution, Huskies’ Athletics places the highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience and on the successful completion of all students’ academic programs.
The selected candidate will serve as a member of the athletic healthcare team for intercollegiate student-athletes. The Athletic Trainerwill be supervised by the Head Athletic Trainer/Athletic Healthcare Administrator and will work under the direction of the Head Team Physician. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, treatment, rehabilitation & reconditioning, organization & administration and professional responsibility. He/She/they will work as part of a team of 4 athletic trainers, 2 team physicians, 2 physical therapists, a dentist and a mental performance coach as well as other community members. Team assignments are negotiable.
This is a full-time positions with a day-to-day work schedule that may vary during the academic year (September through May) depending on the competition and practice schedule and sports season. This is an ongoing position that will work either 10 months or 11 months out of the year. This position is located on the Gorham campus and will require some travel.
USM covers the cost of state licensure renewal (yearly), annual membership to the National Athletic Trainer Association (NATA), BOC maintenance and renewal fees (yearly), Emergency Cardiac Care certification and provides up to $500 per year for continuing education funding to assist staff Athletic Trainers in meeting CEU requirements for certification & licensure.
