Bachelors degree in physical education or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, three years of experience in athletic training or a related field and certification with the National Athletic Trainers Association.
Masters degree and experience in a collegiate setting is preferred.
The University of South Alabama’s Athletics department is seeking to hire an Athletic Trainer II. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
| Essential Functions |
- Supervises and participates in the preparation of athletes for daily practice and games through conditioning and prevention of athletic injuries and use of athletic rehabilitation programs.
- Provides consulting to team coaches in regards to injury prevention programs.
- Serves as a liaison between the Athletic Department and team physicians.
- Provides immediate and emergency certified first aid student-athletes’ provides certified initial evaluations of student-athlete injuries and if needed coordinates medical services with team physicians.
- Provides rehabilitation services as prescribed by team physician.
- Supervises lower level staff and students including assigning duties and checking work.
- Maintains medical billing records pertaining to student athletes receiving medical care.
- Monitors inventory levels of supplies maintained in training room.
- Coordinates insurance documentation and claims management.
- Works nights, weekends and holidays as needed to attend athletic events including out of town events.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
- Related duties as required.
