Typically days: Monday – Friday with core hours from 8:00am – 5:00pm; additional hours per workload demands.
The University of Kentucky, College of Health Sciences, Sports Medicine Research Institute is seeking a full-time Athletic Trainer to begin employment on July 1st, 2024. We are seeking a motivated individual who can contribute to ongoing research projects and funded clinical trials investigating novel rehabilitation techniques for lower extremity musculoskeletal injuries. The primary obligations of this position are to support externally funded (e.g., Department of Defense) clinical research studies by 1) delivering direct patient care aligned with standardized rehabilitation protocols; 2) communicate with local clinical care settings to recruit potential participants; and 3) communicate with and educate participants on the rehabilitation process, relevant timelines, and expectations for study visits.
The person in this position must have a bachelor’s level degree or higher within Athletic Training and be eligible to obtain a Kentucky State Athletic Training License. Additionally, this person should have experience with instructing patients on performing common therapeutic exercises, completing daily exercise logs and good communication skills. This person will be expected to assist in fulfilling the research objectives of the Sports Medicine Research Institute and to work closely with other laboratory personnel including students, graduate student researchers, postdocs, and staff of the Sports Medicine Research Institute. This position will be a 12-month appointment with option to renew contingent upon review and grant funding.
