Job Description:

Wittenberg University is seeking an Athletics Business Manager. This individual will be responsible for the management, administration, and organizational support of all aspects of the business operations for the Athletic Department.  This individual will also provide administrative support for the Health & Sport Studies (HSS) academic department.  This is a full-time, exempt-level position reporting to the Vice President of Athletics & Recreation (AD) and Chair of the Health & Sport Studies department. 
 

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

• Provide direct administrative support for the Director of Athletics by coordinating the Director's daily schedule, travel, meetings, correspondence, phone calls, etc.
• Provide clerical, administrative, budget and project support to the HSS Department. This includes but is not limited to: Update department subscriptions and memberships; assist the department Chair in preparation and submission of courses to the Registrar; course and room scheduling; attend and take minutes at department meetings; and coordinate adjunct and overload requests.
• Serve as the initial point of contact for faculty, graduate students, undergraduate students, prospective students, alumni, community and campus personnel for general questions regarding the Athletic and HSS departments.
• Support the Athletic Department and HSS Department in general office responsibilities (supplies, purchases, etc.), facilitate and organize student employment, new employee orientation, and new staff recruitment.
• Oversee the master calendar for the Athletic Department, HSS Department and facilities and associated facilities.
• Serve as departmental liaison to the Business office, monitor and assist the coaching and administrative staff with the athletic department's purchasing, travel, equipment, budget oversight and forecasting
• Monitor and oversee the budget for both the Athletic and HSS Departments, the processing of check requests and purchase orders, purchasing card audits, cash deposits, payment of officials and athletic team transportation.
• Work collaboratively with Athletic Administrative staff on all aspects of game day operations, including, but not limited to, concessions, ticketing and hospitality needs (when applicable).
• Support the Athletic Administration staff with budget management and NCAA bid preparation
• Adhere to NCAA, conference, departmental, and university policies, procedures, and expectations  
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc. 

 

Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree and 1- 3 years of relevant work experience are required.  Four years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree. 
• Candidates must possess excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to interact effectively and appropriately with students, parents, alumni, faculty, peers, community members, and administrators.
• Candidate must possess the skills to evaluate prospects.
• Candidate must be able to maintain and ensure student-athlete academic integrity, demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Wittenberg University and Division III athletics in compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
• Experience with web-based event scheduling programs (such as 25Live) strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel) and other software, databases, and equipment as assigned.
• Ability to work nights and weekends is required.
