About the Position:
The Athletics department at Cal State Fullerton strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at California State University, Fullerton, and fits within the overall mission of the University. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Athletics Business Operations Analyst (Administrative Analyst/Specialist Non-Exempt). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director, CFO, the Athletics Business provides support to approximately 100+ coaches, staff, administrators, and 400+ student athletes. Trains and assists department coaches and staff on operational policies and procedures, including the reconciliation process of 22+ department procurement cards and the Concur Travel and P-Card process. Provides oversight, processes, and reconciles travel advances (including international travel), accounts receivable and payable invoices, officials pay in Arbiter, memberships, and a large volume of reimbursement check requests. Oversees ASI declining budget and departmental/sport specific reconciliation process. Administers and tracks the Big West Opportunity Fund. Assists with Big West and NCAA reporting. Provides outstanding customer service, working closely with a variety of contacts and vendors, both internal and external, including Associated Students Incorporated, Accounting and Finance, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Auxiliary Services, Titan Shops, Contracts and Procurement, and travel agents. Works independently and assists the CFO and Human Resources Specialist as necessary. Potentially provides lead direction to one student worker inclusive of schedule, and work assignments. Works to promote and safeguard proper operations of Athletic Department Business Office. Performs all job functions with integrity. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. Working knowledge of the general practices, program, or administrative specialty. Basic knowledge of and the ability to apply fundamental concepts. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit, or administrative specialty. Knowledge of and the ability to apply basic methods and procedures used for research and statistical analysis. Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques. Ability to make independent decisions, exercise sound judgment, handle multiple priorities, and organize and plan work assignments. Ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent work experience. Front line customer service experience. Familiarity with a campus environment and a fast-paced work environment. Experience handling confidential materials. Interest in, or experience in, Intercollegiate Athletics.
Maintain working knowledge of and compliance with relevant NCAA and Big West Conference rules. Prolonged seated work and frequent interruptions.
