Athletics Event Staff Assistant (EH24-005) - Multiple Positions - Extra Help

The Athletics Department currently has ten (3) openings for Athletics Event Staff Assistants to provide customer service at athletic and/or other special events, included but not limited to: facility and housekeeping operations, ushering, sports information, ticketing, concessions, merchandising, and parking services.

This position organizes and coordinates location setup of ticket booths and/or related operating facilities, takes tickets from customers at entry ways, as appropriate to position, provides routine assistance at concession stands, to include customer service and cash control, transport of food/beverage items and supplies, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and utensils, and bartending (as appropriate to position).

This role intercedes when necessary to resolve customer problems and/or potentially volatile situations which may arise between events staff and clientele, performs various similar duties as required by circumstances at specific events, such as event set-up/tear-down, and performs other job-related duties as assigned.

This position is a current Civil Service Extra Help vacancy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Extra Help position postings close 24-hours after original posting date/time unless otherwise noted. These are temporary positions at the University and do not offer benefits.

Hours/days of work may vary based on department need.

Typical Qualifications

• 18 years of Age

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to secure and handle cash.
• Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
