The University of Virginia Athletics Department is hiring a postdoctoral fellow for the 2024 to 2025 school year. The fellowship is a full-time, 12-month position beginning August 1, 2024, and ending July 31, 2025, with an earlier 12-month start and end date being negotiable. Supervision will be provided by three full-time licensed clinical sport psychologists embedded within UVA Athletics, who provide confidential mental health and sports performance services to over 750 student-athletes from 25 Division-I teams.
The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for providing mental health and performance services to D-I varsity student-athletes and will have the opportunity to conduct individual counseling and sports performance work, team meetings, consultation with staff, crisis management, and participation in coordination of care with multidisciplinary treatment team members.
Additional opportunities for specialized training in disordered eating behavior, eating disorders, body image concerns, and management of and return to competition issues in cases of concussions and other injuries will be available based on postdoctoral fellow's previous experience and interest areas.
Conducting brief research proposals on utilization patterns, stigma and other barriers, and intervention and educational outcomes is also possible.

Completion of Ph.D. or Psy.D. Doctoral degree from anAPA-accredited Counseling or Clinical Psychology program prior to fellowship start date.
Completion of anAPA-accredited doctoral internship.
Preferred qualifications:
Clinical experience with student-athletes.
Prior experience with performance enhancement services related to sport.
Prior experience in applied research with surveys and an interest in collaboration with sports medicine, kinesiology, and other care team partners.
