Position Summary Information
Provide individual or small group tutoring to assigned student-athletes through the Office of Academic Support for Athletics. Meet with student-athletes on a regular basis to assist them in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas. Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success. Establish and maintain rapport with the assigned student-athlete(s). Attend periodic training sessions given by the Office of Academic Support for Athletics and The Learners Studio to increase competency in tutoring student-athletes. Flexible hours, with most sessions occurring during the evening hours of 4:00-10:00pm. Tutors usually work 2-10 hours per week.
Tutors must have at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA, with Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student standing. All tutors must have received an A or B in the course for which they would like to tutor. Applicants must include a transcript with application to be considered. A letter of recommendation from a faculty member is preferred.
Tutors should be reliable, organized, punctual and customer service oriented. Tutors should work well with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Tutors should be dedicated and willing to make the semester long commitment to tutor with the Office of Academic Support for Athletics. Tutors must follow all academic integrity rules and follow all NCAA rules and regulations. Tutors must uphold the privacy of the student-athletes and maintain confidentiality at all times.
