| Position Summary |
• Fellowship begins the Monday of the first full week of fall semester (approximately August
19) and ends the last day of classes in the spring semester (approximately April 28).
o August – September: Gain an understanding. Interview sta\ to learn as much as
possible about current state of sport program operations, personnel, goals, budget
allocations, challenges faced, areas of improvement, and the “why?” behind
current practices.
o October – November: Trial and error various process improvements, introducing
ideas and mock-up concepts to Head Coach & Assistant Director of Business
Operations. Receive approval to move forward with ideas and recommendations
during implementation phase January – March.
o December: OFF for finals and winter break.
o January – March: Implement agreed-upon changes/practices to operations that
achieve ‘Goal’ stated above.
o April: Prepare and present executive summary and presentation on experiences
and lessons learned, new practices implemented, overall impact of those
practices, and a plan for sport program to sustain the practices/improvements into
the future. Audience: Head Coaches of the Team, UGAA business o\ice, Director
of ILA, and donor (Chris Brearton).

General Expectations:
• Weekly check-in meetings with head coach of Team (15 minutes)
• Biweekly check-in meetings with Assistant Director of Business Operations (30 minutes)
• Periodic documentation of observations made, information learned, and
ideas/opportunities for improvement (collectively, ‘findings’) that should serve as basis
for improvement recommendations.
Ideal Candidate: An ILA student with an interest in the intersection of collegiate sports
operations and their Terry major, preferably accounting, finance, economics, or management.
Preferred Skills and Traits: Creative thinking, time management, Microsoft Excel, project
management, interest in business operations of collegiate athletics, eager to learn, e\ective
communicator, positive attitude, and punctual.
Disclosure: The Athletic Business Operations Fellow will be included in NCAA compliance
education sessions and will be required to abide by all NCAA legislation. This requirement will be
stipulated in further detail in the job posting.
