Duties and Responsibilities (*Denotes Essential Functions):

  • The Assistant Coach will assist with all aspects of NCAA Division I Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field Program, including coaching of the pole vault events, recruiting for that event, monitoring of student-athlete development and academic achievement, compliance with NCAA, Conference and the University of Hawai’i rules & regulations, adherence to all University of Hawai’i and department policies & procedures as well as other duties assigned by the Head Coach.
  • *Designs, implements and monitors training programs and workouts for the pole vault events. Participates in practice sessions and provides instruction to the student-athletes from the basic fundamentals of technique to the advanced methodology of training theory and optimization of performance.
  • *Assists with the identification, evaluation and selection of prospective student-athletes who have the ability to excel in the classroom and be competitive in the sport. Actively seeks out and encourages a diverse group of prospects and assists them through the application process. Works collaboratively with Compliance, Student-Athlete Services, Academics staff to qualify and process prospects in a timely and efficient manner. Makes recurring contacts by phone and all permitted methods, off-campus visits and evaluations, and coordination of campus visits.
  • *Assists with overseeing the academic progress and success of student-athletes including promoting and maintaining an environment that encourages academic achievement as measured by academic eligibility, retention and graduation.
