Midland University, a private, faith based, liberal arts university in Fremont, Nebraska (just outside of metro Omaha), is accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant for the Cheer Program. This position will be offered within our graduate assistant structure, requiring admission to the University's Master of Education, Master of Science Learning and Talent Development, Master of Science and Sports Administration and Leadership or Master of Business Administration programs. The candidate will be responsible for contributing to various aspects of the program, including recruiting, coaching, assisting in developing cheer athletes, video and equipment duties, and other tasks assigned by the head coach.
Job responsibilities include:
Assist the head coach with the administration and leadership of the cheer program
Assist coaching game day and performance cheer squads
Recruit and retain students for the cheer program
Assist coaching and instruction activities during training and practice
Directing strength and conditioning activities (during the season and off-season)
Coordinating performance, game, and practice schedules
Ensuring team compliance with all league, conference and institutional rules and regulations
Continuously ensuring personal behavior and program reputation are in alignment with Midland University values and brand
Need to have:
Bachelor's degree
Ability to be accepted into a Master's Degree program at Midland University for the 2020 Fall Semester
Organizational Skills
Effective interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills
Basic computer skills and working understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel
Nice to have:
High school or collegiate level cheer participant
Should Demonstrate:
A positive attitude
An ability to resolve issues independently
Compensation:
Tuition remission in the master's program. Level of remission is dependent on degree pursued
