Position Description:
The Communications & Marketing Specialist II (Assistant Director of Strategic Communications) will serve as multi-faceted communications professional, executing high-profile media relations as well as social media strategy, messaging, and communications for Louisville Baseball and additional assigned sports. This position will create content, write releases (game recaps, previews, features), produce publications (media guides, record books, game notes, game and match programs), maintain all website content and historical records, oversee and press row/press box operations for assigned programs. Handle all media and interview requests locally and nationally, as well as managing social and emerging media. This individual will also supervise student workers and coordinate the day-to-day communications, media relations, and digital media for assigned sports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary communications contact for sports as assigned; generate written, oral and visual content; arrange interviews for coaches, student-athletes and staff with local, regional, national and digital media.
Write news and feature material on athletic department personnel.
Manage game operations, produce digital and printed publications, gather and disseminate statistical data, and maintain historical information.
Serve as media coordinator for conference and NCAA events hosted by athletic department.
Collaborate with marketing department to manage and create content for all social media efforts for assigned sports.
Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
3-5 years of experience in communications, web production or a related field.
Experience working in media relations, creative communications or creative services at a NCAA Division I program or in professional sports.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
Experience with SIDEARM platforms, Adobe Premier and StatCrew statistical software.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to travel and work nights, weekends as holidays.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
