Position Description:
The University of Louisville Athletic Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Communications and Marketing Specialist II (Media Relations/Creative Communications) to manage digital output and generate daily content for all social media channels for assigned sport(s). This individual may also coordinate the day-to-day communications, media relations, and digital media for assigned sport(s). This position requires a multi-disciplinary skill set with the ability to create and deliver digital content, build, and maintain a social content schedule, develop social fan engagement, and tell compelling stories through numerous platforms.
The Communications and Marketing Specialist II (Media Relations/Creative Communications) will be required to work a non-standard workweek, including nights, weekends, and holidays and travel with the assigned sport(s) as needed for away games.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the development and implementation of social media initiatives, using visual storytelling to enhance the Louisville Athletics brand.
Responsible for day-to-day content management of assigned accounts - planning, scheduling, and executing creative assets for all social channels. These responsibilities will include the accounts for assigned sport(s).
Focus on telling compelling stories in written, video, social media, graphics, or other innovative formats in collaboration with team members of the external unit.
Measure content and campaign success against department KPIs and use data to continuously optimize strategy and workflow.
Creatively engage fans on social media before, during, and after sporting events to build audience, creating social assets (highlight clips, GIF, graphics, etc.) and posting to the appropriate platforms.
Capture and edit photography as needed, and produce graphics and video as needed to support content efforts from creative services.
Manage sponsorship and marketing activations through social media, developing promotions that foster lead and/or revenue generation.
May develop and write, both in news and feature form, press releases about coaches and student-athletes and disseminate this information to the media and to the public via the athletics website and social media platforms in an effort to publicize teams.
May nominate and promote student-athletes and coaches for awards.
May maintain historical records, statistics, and photographs among other important department information.
May assist in maintaining the athletics department website. Write and edit various department communication materials, including postseason publications, press releases, game notes, record books, and content for the department's website.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Sports Administration, Marketing or other related field and Four (4) years' experience managing social media for a sport, media, or entertainment brand.
Ability to manage multiple people and tasks simultaneously.
Experience working with community management systems, content calendars and analytical products to streamline workflows and analyze digital outputs.
Ability to use DSLR camera and basic editing software.
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software, including but not limited to Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects and InDesign.
Working knowledge of SIDEARM website system and Genius Live Stats/StatCrew.
Some Motion GFX capabilities.
Demonstrated understanding of what branded video content is and how to build a brand story.
Excellent knowledge of the sporting landscape, editorial planning and a strong creative content mind that is always social media led.
Demonstrated success building audiences on social media through community engagement and storytelling.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Work experience in intensive, fast-paced environments.
Passion for social media storytelling, with strong understanding of trends and best practices.
Ability to identify what is important to avid and casual sports fans and how to create innovative social experiences that resonate and engage a national audience.Â
