DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as main contact for coaches regarding athletics aid and non-athletics aid.
Coordinate all NLI, athletic aid agreements, renewals, and aid cancellations.
Responsible for making tuition, housing, and off-campus room and board payments.
Manage the tracking and payment of Alston academic awards on a quarterly basis.
Main contact for current and prospective student-athletes, as well as their families, regarding student accounts, scholarships, and the administration of financial aid.
Assist with the resolution of financial issues and payments to student-accounts.
Coordinate with the UW Office of Student Financial Aid on all athletics aid scholarships and FAFSA issues.
Independently monitor and assist with general office procedures for multiple areas of compliance.
Those areas include Bylaw 13 (e.g. official visits, phone logs, recruiting logs), Bylaw 12 (prize money, outside competition, etc.), and student-athlete employment.
Routinely audit the submission of logs across all sports and provide reports as needed.
Monitor compliance software for violations. the submission of compliance logs by coaches.
Independently create educational materials and organize in-person educational sessions for assigned sports. This position is responsible for creating a timeline for educational efforts and timely materials as well as documenting these sessions.
Work closely with athletic department staff members and outside entities such as the Office of Student Financial Aid, Housing and Food Services, and the business office, regarding compliance areas of responsibility.
These responsibilities require highly specialized knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and how they integrate with institutional guidelines.
Identify and resolve problems and issues in a timely manner using independent judgment and decision-making abilities.
Assist in providing rules education for coaches, student-athletes, administrators, and representatives of athletics interests.
Finally, work directly with ICA staff, coaches, and student-athletes to promote a positive compliance environment and to establish and maintain programs and procedures to ensure compliance with University, Conference and NCAA regulations and federal and state law.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington, and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University.
The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations.
As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related working experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, and the ability to assume a variety of independent responsibilities and tasks assigned.
Must be able to work under pressure in a busy and diverse environment handling confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.
Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and to prioritize and complete several tasks to meet deadlines.
Must have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, and database applications.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Background and experience in NCAA compliance at a Division I institution.
Direct experience with Bylaw 15 and a working knowledge of FAFSA and federal financial aid regulations.
Post-graduate degree in law, sports management, athletic leadership or a related field.
