The Coordinator, Aquatics position is a .75 FTE benefits eligible position in the University of Arizona Athletics Department. This position shall provide assistance to the Director of Aquatics in day-to-day facility maintenance and mechanical operations, event preparation and execution, and ancillary/student staff supervision. The primary job function is evening and weekend supervision of the aquatic facility, during which time a club team of roughly 75 utilizes the facility. Duties will include but are not limited to ensuring a safe and supervised environment with chemical balances maintained, maintenance protocols followed and documented, and set-up for facility events completed correctly and on time. Individual must be able to assist/answer all questions pertaining to swim/dive meets (HyTek, Dive Meets, Colorado Timing Systems, DisplayLink software). Candidate must be willing to work evening hours (1:00PM 9:00PM), all events, extended hours on weekends and be able to supervise an ancillary/student work crew of approximately 4 people.
This position requires the ability work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed.

Assist in the supervision of the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center, primarily evenings and weekends when facility is in use by a club team.
Create an environment at the facility that promotes safety, quality and excellence.
Inspect pool area and equipment daily for safety and efficiency of operations.
Monitor pool chemistry and adjust as needed to maintain standards befitting on an NCAA facility.
Assist with the maintenance of the pools, to include water chemistry, pump room, overall cleanliness, and related maintenance.
Assist the Director, Aquatics in serving as a contact and resource for All meet technology for swimming and diving events, inclusive of Colorado Timing Systems, HyTek Meet Manager, Dive Meets, etc..
Communicate and enforce the policies, rules and regulations governing conduct of patrons utilizing the facility.
Document accidents and other incidents according to set procedures.
Communicate frequently with swim, dive, and triathlon coaches and staff to ensure an optimal training environment at the aquatic facility.
Supervise student/ancillary staff in daily pool maintenance of the facility.
Ensure lifeguard coverage for any visiting entity or UA team without an Aquatic Safety certified staff member on site.
Minor equipment maintenance and repair.
Assist the Director, Aquatics with chemical procurement.
Supervise events including NCAA and others held at the Aquatic Center.
Stay current in all necessary certifications (CPO, LG, 1st Aid and CPR).
Will be required to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays and is subject to emergency call-in.
Other duties as assigned.

Experience with and technical skills related to aquatic facility management, including knowledge of water chemistry, mechanical filtration methods, competitive timing systems and relevant software, and aquatic safety protocols.
Extensive knowledge of commercial pool chemistry and filtration.
Good organizational skills for tracking inventory and pool maintenance.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills to oversee a diverse work group.
Physical Requirements:
Physical ability to move large equipment (up to 20 lbs.) and to conduct minor mechanical repairs of large commercial equipment. This may involve climbing stairs, climbing ladders, bending and kneeling.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
One (1) year of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Current Life-guarding, 1st aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or ability to obtain once hired.
Current CPO National Certification or ability to obtain once hired.
Advanced degree in Aquatic or Recreation management.
Three years of practical experience in NCAA Division I Athletics.
Three years of relevant work experience.
