Coordinator of Athletic Communications

The Coordinator of Athletics Communications will support all athletic communications and sports information efforts within the Department of Athletics and Recreation. Working closely with the Director of Athletic Communications, this role will help market and promote departmental programs while leading the development of graphic design, social media, and video content.

The Coordinator of Athletics Communications is appointed by the Vice President for the Student Experience and the Director of Athletics and Recreation upon the recommendation of the Director of Athletic Communications. This position reports to the Director of Athletic Communications.

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as the Coordinator of Athletics Communications. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assist in overseeing the department’s graphic design initiatives, social media strategy, video production, and other digital communication platforms.
• Disseminate contest results, recaps, and highlights to local print and television media; distribute results to regional and national media outlets, as appropriate.
• Serve as the primary communications contact for assigned sports (to be determined) during each athletic season.
• Provide on-site coverage for designated home contests or coordinate statistical coverage through Athletic Communications staff, student workers, or independent contractors; distribute official results to opposing institutions, the conference, and the NCAA.
• Assist in compiling, writing, and editing press releases, media guides, brochures, game programs, and statistical reports for the intercollegiate athletics program.
• Support live video production of athletic events, including streaming and broadcast coordination.
• Maintain and regularly update the Athletics & Recreation website (www.marywoodpacers.com), including team pages, schedules/results, student-athlete and alumni features, facilities information, and intramural/recreation content; respond to website-related inquiries in a timely manner.

• Coordinate the production and distribution of individual and team photography for coaches, student-athletes, and athletics personnel; maintain organized and up-to-date digital archives.
• Manage weekly reporting requirements to member conferences, coaching organizations, and the NCAA for all athletic programs.
• In collaboration with the Director of Athletic Communications, assist in supervising the Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communications, independent contractors providing statistical coverage, and work-study student employees.
• Utilize (or demonstrate willingness to learn) statistical software platforms, including Presto, Stat Crew (Tennis/Golf), and Genius.
• Utilize (or demonstrate willingness to learn) graphic design software, including Gipper and Adobe Photoshop.
• Assist the Director of Athletic Communications with the preparation of annual reports and departmental publications.
• Support the promotion of athletic events through targeted marketing initiatives directed toward Marywood University students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
• Assist in planning, coordinating, and promoting annual athletics events, including but not limited to the department golf tournament, Athletics Hall of Fame selection and ceremony, and annual awards programs.
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of applicable NCAA, conference, and Marywood University athletics policies and regulations; ensure compliance in all communications and reporting efforts.
• Maintain familiarity with and understanding of the NCAA Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA).
• Represent the Department of Athletics and Recreation in a professional and positive manner at all times.
• Attend and actively participate in all Department of Athletics and Recreation staff meetings, as well as individual meetings with the Director of Athletic Communications and/or the Director of Athletics and Recreation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Recreation and/or the Director of Athletic Communications.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree and/or other post-secondary education
• 1-2 years of experience in Athletic Communications at the collegiate level (may include Graduate Assistant and/or work study position)
• Digital media/Graphic Design experience
• Video production experience
• Writing experience

The operation of vehicles and the transportation of athletes are duties that are required at various times. The selected employee must have a valid driver’s license issued in the United States and will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to travel, as well as work nights and weekends (including scheduled holiday and university breaks).
